Overview: The tree was in severe decline, overhanging the road - the National Trust tree officer had inspected the tree and recommended that it be felled, with its ill health possibly due to age as it had been in decline for a number of years. Westmorland Tree Care acted on the National Trust’s recommendation to fell and provided traffic management in order to be able to carry out the work safely and in accordance with Chapter 8 – the Highways’ ‘Signing, Lighting and Guarding’ legislation.
